A little something I’m working on right now. The knots on this wood are pretty righteous, don’t ya think? Too bad they’re gonna get covered up.

PAINT! And markings…
Still a lot more painting and detailing to go before I can call her *complete*, but it’s getting there.

More progress made! I removed a lot of the excess wood that was around the head/veil area, as well as added fabric creases in the cape and gown. Originally, I had no intentions of getting in to this much detail. I wanted my little bulto to look as primitive and simple as possible, but she obviously had different plans.

Just a little sanding, back cutting, and detailing to go - then I can finally begin painting. I can honestly say that this is the most important thing I’ve made to date. She’s very symbolic of this past year’s happenings, and her creation is marking a turing point in my artwork. #justsayin

It took a while for me to get it right, but I managed to carve the face (it’s also pretty accurate to my original drawing, so double score!) Hopefully I’ll have some time tomorrow to get carving on the body. We shall see…

Here are a few progress shots of my contribution to Process’s FRIENDS + FAMILY Group Art Show. These 2 pieces have gone through quite the transformation in the past few days. Infact I feel like I’ve gone through quite the transformation as well :/

These 2 pieces have been siting in The Ineffable Vault of Unfinishedness for many moons now. I figured it was about time I set them free from captivity, and finally get them to their rightful owners. Sorry folks, these 2 pieces will NOT be up for grabs.

So, here’s what it looks like so far -it’s at about 80% right now. The frame work is yet to be done, as well as the addition of the caption, which is really important to the piece.
I know this piece may seem a bit random to some, but if you sit and look through my body of work, you would notice that the heart is an ongoing theme. This particular piece seems to tie everything together. I’ll get a little deeper into how’s and why’s once I reveal the final product ;) Baby, there’s always a story…

More Progress. Back in the summer, I made a terrible decision to stain this piece, not fully understanding the wood I was working with - bad move. The entire heart had to be sanded down to nothingness :( Heartbroken (literally), I abandoned ship until I was able to think clearly and figure out a way to salvage this beauty.
So today, Friday February 5, 2010 I finally solved the problem. Hoooofuckingraaahhh!
