My friend Tim got me thinking about Unas Elenas yesterday…so I put these skate decks back up on the site for viewing. Now the painted woodblock & print of Unas Elenas won’t look so random, lol. Check out the Woodwork section!

So far this is a pretty pathetic looking attempt at me wood burning. lol. Thankfully I have a detailer bit to clean up any of the choppy lines. At first, I was just going to burn it and let it be, but now I’m debating whether or not to throw a little bit of color in there. Hmm…
Still got a wayyyys to go. I think I need a little breaky.

Yea, so this is one of those “things” I needed to get out of my system (there’s alot of them folks, so do prepare yourselves) I found some really great reference for all that stuff floating around in my head, so here’s hoping I can purge it all in the coming months - unless I’m struck with some other otherworldly force pointing me in a different direction. Who knows.
p.s. Did I mention that this is on a skate deck?

Detail shot of both decks. Again, showing the contrast between the twins - Fruitful days and barren nights.

The deck show opens tonight @APW Gallery - so if you happen to be near LIC come through. Fuck I’m sleepy…
What to do, what to do? u deck…
Everything is moving at a snails pace right now. I need a Redbull, a stogie, and some fresh air straight from Puerto Rico. It’s like Heros and the eclipse - I think that if I go there I’ll get my powers back, lol.
FYI, Currently working on: 2 decks (which I absolutely loathe) Dos Elenas - The Stoic Scarecrow, & The Absent-Minded Birdfeeder, for Deck, Deck, Deck opening in June at the APW Gallery. I’m staring at them right now and I want to scream, lol - they BOTHER me.
I always try to keep things in order. For the first show I did a “Wood”, second show I did a “Sketch”. So naturally “Print” should have been up on the list of things to do. As much as I would love to carve out these decks (and yes the thought has crossed my mind multiple times) I just can’t bring myself to do it. I can’t sell a carved woodblock - I just can’t. Those are the ONLY things I truly cannot part with. There’s something about it, I dunno…
So yea, since the print option went out the window, I decided to try to mimic it the best I could…in paint…horribly, lol. I’m really not feelin’ it but maybe someone out there will have a different opinion. Who knows.
Snipits will be posted shortly -so don’t get yur panties in a bunch ;)
Woohoo! My decks arrived this afternoon. Aren’t they purdy :D
I’m still not sure what I want to do to them tho. What I do know is that I need to sand these puppies down and get rid of that coat of gloss…eechh. Oh little sander, where the hell did I misplace you?
