January 12th: Bird Log - Coopers Hawk Since Cee, Elle, and the juvies were missing in action today, this Cooper’s Hawk had my undivided attention. I followed him to a few different perches, and was able to get some nice shots, as well as a bit of video. All in all, it was a good hawk day. January 9th: Bird Log An Immature Red Tail dropped by and caused a panic among the birds this afternoon. I initially began recording because the Crows were going ape shit outside, and I had no idea (until a few seconds into shooting) that the RT was in the tree. Check out the video here

The Elements of “Cantitos De Doña Frida”

Out of all the artists I love, I feel a kinship with her the most. I know I’m not alone on this one, and though it may have been a cliché thing for a girl like me to do, I did it anyway. Sue me. :P

This piece is for someone who doesn’t need the explanation of how and why certain elements were chosen. Someone who’s drawn to it, not only because they feel a familiarity to the images, but because they themselves feel a kinship to the piece. So with that said, this one’s for you (whoever you are)

The Matryoshka Show opens this Saturday September 29th

CDDF | In progress | Image copyright 2012 LV Ruiz / ineffable3.com This will be a set of 3 (possibly 4) nesting dolls for a group show Empire State Studio is having at the end of September. It took a few failed attempts, but the dolls are finally turning into something workable. I’m really crossing my fingers with this wood though. It’s less than ideal, and the fact that I have to work shallow frutrates me. Basswood like this is shit. Working shallow only gives it more of a reason to chip and flake off and make you want to scream. Everything is a lesson though, so we’ll see what happens…
