Back in the summer, I made a terrible decision to stain this piece, not fully understanding the wood I was working with - bad move. The entire heart had to be sanded down to nothingness :( Heartbroken (literally), I abandoned ship until I was able to think clearly and figure out a way to salvage this beauty.  So today, Friday February 5, 2010 I finally solved the problem. Hoooofuckingraaahhh!
