HelloBird! Fridays | Loggerhead Shrike
Species // Loggerhead Shrike, “Butcher Bird” Family // Lanius ludovicianus The Loggerhead impales its prey - usually a small bird, mouse, or insect - on a thorn or barbed-wire fence which facilitates tearing it apart then or at a later time; hence its vernacular name “Butcher Bird.” It is a gray, black and white bird, with a slim tail, large head, hooked black beak and...

The Bar Project | Part I
After many months of procrastination/just being plain ol’ busy, we finally began building our bar. YAY! A trip to Home Depot became, four trips to Home Depot…but that’s usually the case when you build stuff. Since the huz is such a handy little fella, and I’m a pretty crafty chick, we like to combine forces like Voltron and make mucho crazy sheeit!  This is where our...

HelloBird! Fridays | My Parakeet
Species // Parakeets/Budgerigar Family // Psittacus undulatus Folks, say hello to Jun/o. I found him on my porch last June (hence the name) He had a busted wing so took him in. Poor little thing was slamming into everything - I’m surprised he didn’t give himself a little Keet concussion. On a side note, I’m convinced Jun/o is a circus bird…and Jun/o is convinced...

Introducing HelloBird! Fridays
It seems like every blog has a specific day dedicated to something, whether it’s Doodle Monday, illustration Friday, or even a Kate Moss Thursdays (which is quite possibly my absolute favorite blog day of the week) creative dedication days seem to be where it’s at. Current state of brainstorming...
I had a very productive train ride this afternoon. (can I just say how much I MISS taking the train in to work everyday) Anyhoo, it’s the best place to A. either want to kill someone if you’re pissed or  B. if you find yourself in a nice peaceful state of zen (like I happened to have been) it’s an incredible place to just sit and watch people - in a totally non creepy sort of...

My reflection on last night's opening...
Where to begin, where to begin.. It was a pretty good opening night, alot of people, alot of really fucking incredible drawings…but sadly alot of really mediocre-shouldnt-have-been-in-the-show-at-all-kinda work. I’m not a hater, I’m just simply being honest. First off the show was called “SKETCH IT OUT” so why the hell were there photographs in this show. That was...
